Extend your learning!
Description
Extend your learning by attending the Safeguard National H&S Conference - Post Conference Workshops.
9.00AM - 12.30PM Masterclass: Making SMART Real: (Re-Designing Work in Practice
Presented by: Dr Rebecca Michalak, Managing Director, Psychsafe
Doing things new, better, different, can be hard work.
Adopting an evidence-based approach in the face of long-standing cute and fluffy? Also hard work.
(Re-)designing work doesn’t need to be that difficult.
In this half-day intensive, Dr Becs will be guiding attendees through a series of practical exercises to help them gain a deeper-yet-parsimonious (KISS) understanding of SMART work design levers, and how these levers can be pulled to solve specific work design problems in their organisations.
Balancing ‘know what” with “know how”, this workshop will challenge attendees to reflect on their practice - to ask tough questions and answer honestly - identifying knowing and doing gaps, including how to influence important stakeholders in what is a multi-pronged approach to reducing risk and optimising workforce performance.
This masterclass is for more experienced practitioners - participants will need to select the most relevant of three (3) different scenarios provided as a pre-read, and prepare a brief case study to start solving for during the workshop.
During the session, attendees will develop a SMART-premised project outline and action plan to take forward into their practice to make SMART real.
9.00PM - 12.30PM Workshop: Accident Investigations
Presented by: Naveen Kozhuppakalam, Chief Investigator and Dr Tahlia Fisher, Manager Specialist Services, Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC)
Accidents, near-misses and other safety incidents are usually complicated, often complex, and sometimes chaotic. When we investigate, where do we start and how far do we want to go?
Whether you’re confused or confident, this practical workshop will provide a basis for understanding why people involved did what they did and analysing evidence to gain insight into not just the causes but also the broader circumstances of the incident. Use this to produce advice that senior executives can rely on to assess what it means for the organisation and make changes for everyone to be safer in future.
1.00PM - 4.30PM Workshop: LEAD-R For Safety Practitioners
